Google desktop died and i'm not sure why. a reinstall made it work again. seems others have had this problem too. some blame MS, but it may be googles fault?

i kinda think it was a combination of things... i installed some ms windows updates and then google desktop didn't work. so i reinstalled it and it came up different, better but definitely different.
what was different about it?
the skin. it used to be gray or something, same color all the time. now it is black when i have something full screen and transparent when windows are minimized or taking up only part of the screen.
oh ya... and the notepad gadget looks like a notepad (yellow with spiral bound)
