Men vs. Women

according to this new york times article, men's pleasure center in the brain is activated when people recieve just punishment. but women's brains don't show the same activity. women show sympathy. that means, to me, that mothers can still say, "this hurts you more than it hurts me," but fathers can't.

Access Granted

it may soon be harder to fool that door or safe that requires a fingerprint scan using playdoh. according to this article from acs, the current fingerprint scanning technology is fooled up to 90% of the time by a playdoh mold of a finger. but they have improved the scanning to be faked out by playdoh or dead fingers only 20% of the time by just scanning twice with 2 to 5 seconds inbetween. apparently we sweat and that changes the fingerprint a bit for live people but not other methods.

'annoy'

http://news.com.com/... is one long url and quite concerning even if it's only half true.
apparently it may now be illegal to 'annoy' somone on the internet.
i wonder if i can use this in my defense? "you were TRYING to annoy me, I now feel annoyed, so YOU are to blame!"

vista - almost old news

"... but in Vista, they are making use of the NT File System's (NTFS's) streams — attaching keywords and such to the files — to make them much easier to index and find quickly. The limitation here is that it's not a database really, just a faster way to find files using the traditional search techniques. The other limitation is that it's local PC only, whereas WinFS has the potential to work across a network, if you're using a WinFS-based server." according to http://www.microsoft-watch.com/article2/0,2180,1853593,00.asp

this talk describes something simliar over 10 years ago. interesting.
