my favorite browser, hands down is firefox because of my extentions.
that being said, if security and speed are more your cup of tea, read this as it's a very comprehensive comparison of what is out there and what it offers in the speed department.

so the conclusion I drew from it (apart from the REALLY good list of available browsers, including txt browsers) is that I should be using opera, not FF.
opera if your not tied to the extentions. I'm kinda tied as I use them so heavly for debugging my web apps. i'm willing to take the crappy performance and reasonable security holes for the extentions. especially the firebug and developer extentions.
link to these 'extensions' you refer to. never heard of them.
