Fail Blog has some fairly epic failures. its worth stopping by and preparing yourself for reality before you face the general population.

We've driven up to Bogus when it's that slick... kinda frightening and I almost put on chains a couple of times... Worst case, slick snow on pavement, packed by traffic, traffic slows down and the heat from the cars turns the road to ice.
I do run studs on all 4 tires in the winter time and I carry chains in the trunk, although I've yet to use them.
Ah, but the upside... really bad roads means really good skiing :).
