some modicum of sanity
cybersquatting is ruled to be illegal. thesimpsonsmovie.com was registered to someone who had nothing to do with the simpsons or fox so it was ruled he couldn't sell it for big bucks to fox.

VectorTD
Thanks kev for the link to VectorTD, you have me addicted to it, and when it takes an hour or so to play a game, you can really burn some time with this thing. I'm absolutely SICK of the fish commercial at the beginning. what are they selling, sand, seawater, or stupidity? its for sure not gum. I did 10 seconds look of the sourcecode for the web page (literally) and drug out the link straight to the game (here). it plays full screen.
if your super lame, and need a hack, try this one. pretty much infinite everything, plus the ability to download the .SWF file but i'm not nerdy enuf to care to figure out how to open it from the local machine (anyone want to provide some hints?) i personally like the challenge of the regular game.

Electrify it
And this is why Japan will move ahead in the world. not for good will, but because the toilets need electricity.

selfImage
I've been working with vista at work.
We could spring for Ghost 12 or whatever it is to help deploy 14 machines, or I could sample a nice opensource GNU2 http://selfimage.excelcia.org/
I've been quite impressed as I booted to vista, plugged in a usb harddrive (harddrive from different manufacturer, and different size), cloned the ACTIVE drive I'd booted to to the usb HD, swapped, and it booted. Impressive.
Vista even jumped up and said it found a new harddrive and autoinstalled the drivers for it. cool.
To verify the work under the hood, i ran a scandisk after booting and it did find some orphaned unindexd files. It verified the 49264 files, and then scanned the freespace (clusters) and everything looks good.

Washable
a week and a half ago (or so) i decided to do laundry. i washed my workout clothes and forgot that i had a watch in the pocket of my shorts. when i took the clothes out of the dryer and folded them i discovered the watch. it was a cheap snap watch and i considered just tossing it, but i didn't. i put it next to my monitor and thought maybe the lcd would recover. today i picked it up and noticed that indeed it did recover. that's amazing that it survived the hot air of the dryer and the surfactants of the wash without loosing any liquid crystals or circuits.

I think my lego collection needs another 5195 pieces. for the price, they are only 10-cents a piece.

Books and books
I recently completed another horrendous paper for my MBA program and the more of these things I write, the more I become aware of my hatred of fixed styles and form factors that are outdated. one prime example is that a reference for a book needs only be the ISBN. thats it, nothing else. in fact, its more useful as an ISBN number than it is in the crappy reference format as there is still some ambiguity as to what is really being referenced. with that in mind, i figured someone had to have and ISBN to reference converted and and I found ottobib.com (and ottobib-wikipedia). feed in an ISBN and out pops the reference, I so love that.
for the really strange book lover, I give you this strange site a ran across, librarything.com which includes some strange tool to find related books if you can't find the exact one your looking for, or a different print edition. it looked like complete nonsense to me but I have a feeling theres a few of you out there that would use something like this, so have at it. (did i mention it is strange?)

oops 404
the 404 pages on nokias' site are very funny to me
Don't worry, it's not serious, but it looks like the page you've requested isn't available.
