not this material specifically but you and i have already heard of the two things that go into making it. PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) and PE (polyethylene). in other words teflon (like nonstick cookware coatings) and plastic wrap (you know the stuff you put on leftover and what not). is is a copolymer system so they just mix the two things together... and get an average of the properties out.
so I should mix some cement (very hard and durable) and jello (very pretty and fun to play with) and get a new product that has the best of the two; a very hard and durable pretty lump to play with...
well, maybe the real scientists choose better ingredients, or just never got out of their kitchen. either way, what likelyhood do you see this going into consumer grade products anytime soon - like say, my notebook's case?
