yeah, the dallas semi stuff has been around for probably 15 years now. I remember reading about it when I was in college (and that was a whopping 10 years ago)
i hate to break it to you, but you actually need (2) two wires, regardless of what they say. both the host and the slave have to have a relevent ground at about the same potential, thats truley and uninformed guess. i have never used it. if it runs with just one wire, (and no common ground) then I truly would be impressed.
